The Seminole County Bar Association announces the passing of Retired Judge John Woodard, III:

In Memory of Judge John L Woodard, III,
It  is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Judge John L. Woodard, Ill.
Although Judge Woodard left the bench last year, he did not do so before leaving an indelible mark
on the court, the legal community, and the many lives he touched through his service. His
contributions were so meaningful that the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners issued a
proclamation recognizing his many accomplishments, including his pioneering work in Drug Court and Veterans Court.
Judge Woodard will be remembered as a man of deep compassion, wisdom, and kindness, both on and off the bench. He insp1ired others to be better and do better, always carrying himself with dignity
and showing respect to those who appeared before him, those he served, and those with whom he
worked. He was a scholar and a true gentleman whose knowledge, experience, and temperament set a high benchmark for what our jurists should embody.
There was no finer example of a dedicated judge. He was thoughtful, fair, and humble, never making
it about himself He led with quiet strength, kindness, and grace. For so many, he was a model of
what a great judge should be.
His work, especially with veterans and individuals facing mental health challenges, reflected not
only his commitment lo justice, but his belief in people. If not for his efforts, countless individuals would not have been given the opportunity to improve their lives and move forward with
hope and dignity.
Judge Woodard’s legacy is one of service, compassion, and integrity He was one of the best, and he
will be deeply missed.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, friends, and all who had the
privilege of knowing and working with him. May we honor his memory by striving to carry forward the example he set.
With deepest sympathy
