Governor DeSantis appoints County Court Judge James Morgan to the Circuit Court Bench
James Morgan III, of Marathon, to serve as Judge on the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit Court
Morgan has served as a County Court Judge for Monroe County since 2021. Previously, he served as an Assistant Public Defender in the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit. He earned both his bachelor’s degree and juris doctor from the University of Florida. Morgan fills the judicial vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Garcia.
In addition to his judicial duties, Judge Morgan was the Sixteenth Circuit Representative for the Conference of County Court Judges of Florida (CCCJF) Board of Directors, which is responsible for the governance of the conference and the betterment of the County Courts statewide.
