Governor Scott Appoints Renatha Francis to the Miami-Dade County Court

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – On August 14, 2017, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Renatha Francis to the Miami-Dade County Court.

Francis, 39, of Miami, currently practices with Shutts & Bowen, LLP. Previously, she served in multiple positions with the First District Court Appeal, including as an attorney to Judge Scott Makar, staff attorney, and law clerk to Judge Peter Webster. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of the West Indies and her law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law. Francis fills the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Jason E. Dimitris to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court.

Governor Scott Appoints Joseph J. Mansfield to the Miami-Dade County Court

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – On August 14, 2017, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Joseph J. Mansfield to the Miami-Dade County Court.

Mansfield, 52, of Miami, has served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit since 2001. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron and law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Mansfield fills the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Victoria del Pino to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court.

Governor Scott Appoints Judge Jennifer X. Gabbard to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – On August 7, 2017, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Judge Jennifer X. Gabbard to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court.

Gabbard, 45, of Tampa, is currently a Hillsborough County Judge, and previously served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. She received her bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida. Gabbard fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Ashley B. Moody.

Governor Scott Appoints Jamie Rutland Grosshans to the Orange County Court

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – On August 7, 2017, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Jamie Rutland Grosshans to the Orange County Court.

Grosshans, 38, of Winter Garden, is currently a solo practitioner for Plant Street Law, and previously served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit. She received her bachelors degree from Thomas Edison State College and law degree from the University of Mississippi. Grosshans fills the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Tanya D. Wilson to the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court.

Governor Scott Appoints Kristine Van Vorst to the Alachua County Court

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – On August 7, 2017, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Kristine Van Vorst to the Alachua County Court.

Van Vorst, 40, of Gainesville, is currently a General Magistrate and Judicial Hearing Officer for the Eighth Judicial Circuit. She has previous experience as a solo practitioner in private practice. She received her bachelor and law degrees from the University of Florida. Van Vorst fills the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard to the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court.

Gov. Scott Appoints County Court Judge Lourdes Simon to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – On July 18, 2017, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Judge Lourdes Simon to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court.

Simon, 49, of Miami, is currently a County Court Judge in Miami-Dade County. She previously served as an Assistant Public Defender for the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office. She received her bachelors degree from Florida International University, and law degree from Nova Southeastern University School of Law. Simon fills the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Robert Luck to the Third District Court of Appeal.
